Unshuttered, in partnership with the nonprofit design lab, Amplifier, called on teens across the United States to submit original photographs in response to the theme “Reconnecting with _____,” Alluding to the challenges of separation and isolation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, teen photographers were invited to “fill in the blank” by making art that reflects their ideas about new ways of connecting with the world. 20 photographs were selected, and Amplifier artists then designed posters that highlight the creative potential inherent in those young artists’ work. The photographs and posters are presented in a Getty exhibition and our virtual gallery below—which includes statements by the artists.
