Jackson Barrett, 17, is an aspiring journalist, photographer and filmmaker who enjoys writing, making music, and golfing to destress from days of tireless editing and researching new topics to report on and challenge their creativity.
Jackson believes that all people should be equal, but that will never happen until those in power recognize their privilege and meaningfully act upon that knowledge.
To me, Justice in 2021 is the acknowledgement of inequity and correction of systemic oppression. It is uplifting those who have been spoken over for decades, centuries even, and it ensures that they are being heard and protected. Justice is insurance to uphold the values of our society, to quote a founding father of the land we live in, all men are created equal. Meaning everyone is entitled to respect and dignity, no matter who they are. A society is proactive; it does not allow its citizens to experience inequity or oppression from its leaders.
