A Questioning Mother
Reklaw
Embraced by her children, a concerned mother holds up what she fears could become the fate of her son in a country that gives impunity to a select few while giving injustice to others. Atlanta, GA. May 29, 2020
Hello, I am an Atlanta-native and current freshman at Boston University. Since middle school, I have been invested in photography and photojournalism as an artistic outlet. I enjoy capturing candids in the city because that is the most authentic and natural way to capture a place as bustling as Atlanta.
In this set of photos I hope to show that the pursuit of justice is not something that can be accomplished without the work of all individuals from all walks of life. This movement must involve the youth, the older generations, and most importantly, a shared longing for change in the way we define and achieve justice in America.
Photos play an integral role in the telling of this story because they allow us to connect and feel with the subjects in the picture on a level that is deep enough to pull at and challenge both our minds and hearts. I pray these pictures will remind and inspire viewers to pursue justice wholeheartedly and unapologetically until it is a reality for all.
Justice is what occurs when humanity and love are placed above politics and power.
